When Laila gave birth to the HUGE fawn male with the wide white stripe and wide white collar, we never dreamed that he would be our next "inside dog". He was a loud mouth and from day one, into everything. When the rest of the litter was sold, that big fawn male was still here. Nobody wanted him. My husband and I decided to keep him and give him the name Clouds Major Winchester. I began crate training when my husband went on the road with his work. We (Major and I) had our share of disagreements over when and where he should go potty. Countless mornings of waking up to messes in the crates turned into mornings of no messes. So, I started leaving him out in my bedroom at night. Again, he and I had problems. After several mornings of placing bare feet in a cold puddle or a squishy pile, he finally learned that wasn't the time or place. He now sleeps all night in the bed with me, except when my husband comes home on the weekends. That is when the shoving matches start between the two "men" of the house. Major takes the place of my husband, so to speak, when he is not there. Not in a gross kind of way, but he does snuggle with me. He will lay just like a human with his head on the pillow and under the covers. Many times he will actually place a front leg over my stomach as if he's telling me that he loves me and all is okay. Major and I have an understanding. He knows that when I get ready to leave the house to go to the store, or anywhere else for that fact, he has to go into the crate. He use to resent this but has since learned that the crate is not a bad place, but his "safe house". When he gets in trouble ( we are dealing with shoe chewing now, I have lost 2 pair of flip flops) he does get punished but I never punish him and put him in the crate. He has become the best dog anyone could have ever had. So, to everyone, I promise I'm not being a smart butt, but thank you for passing on him and not choosing to make him a member of your family because, he is a GRRRRREAT addition to mine.:D | |
